It seems the scheme is in a phase where existing stations are being extended:
Arrived at Leman Street, Aldgate on Monday afternoon to find only 10 usable points of the original 16, BUT the good news is that 5 contractors were very busy behind the fencing extending the station by what seems a further 28 points. The office workers in the area must be well pleased.
Malet Street and Bethnal Green Road, although currently closed, are both being extended. And the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel Road which is still operational appears to have quite a few new points being installed a short distance along the pavement in between new racks for non scheme riders.
Great news! and it’s good they’re leaving the non-scheme racks in, so adding to the mix of public transport opportunities instead of taking away.
Now if they could just remove a lane or two of traffic, and install racks and segregated cycling facilities, that would have me … Can I nominate VICTORIA EMBANKMENT south side, from Blackfriars to Northumberland Avenue (Charing Cross)?
