Sorry for another topic in one day – promise to quieten down after this!!!

I am a total novice cyclist (certainly in terms of cycling on the “public road”) and am considering the following routes:

    Route 1:

Longley Street to Leathermarket Street (and vice versa)

    Route 2:

Long Lane (nr Borough High St) to Bermondsey Street (and vice versa)

I was just wondering if anyone else has knowledge of these routes and any tips/dodgy bits to watch out for while cycling them.

Obviously all the standard stuff like not cycling too near to the kerb applies – but I have read quite a bit on these forums about route-specific issues and wanted to check these routes.

(In relation to Route 1, I noticed on my way past that there is a lovely new, grade-separated cycle lane! Although the majority of it is on a standard road and there is a particularly nasty looking junction I was keen for advice on).

    Thanks so much……..

I don’t know those particular routes but for all route planning I recommend Cyclestreets:

http://www.cyclestreets.net/ It’ll show you the best route, with options for fastest, quietest, and balanced. I was nervous as a novice and at difficult junctions I used to get off and walk the bike across pedestrian crossings. Don’t forget you always have that option. But after a few weeks I gained confidence and I am sure you will too.
