More chaos last night, with queues of frustrated people trying to dock bikes at the southeast corner of the zone. The terminal outside City Hall was full and not releasing bikes and the nearest FIVE stations were all full. I phoned the call centre to ask why their teams weren’t out freeing up spaces – and their response was that there was space in all those terminals, because that’s what their computers told them. And it was true: the availability data said there were 15 spaces free in Tyers Gate when in fact there were none. And of course that means you can’t add extra time to your key, because the terminal thinks there is still availability.

It’s all very depressing, but I’m not going to renew when my annual membership falls due. I want to support it and I want it to work, but this level of stress just isn’t worth it.
