It’s the same around parked cars too. It always amazes me that drivers set out to drive through London knowing full well they’ll get caught up in jams and held at traffic lights for ages. Yet wait patiently 10 seconds for a cyclist to clear a narrow stretch of road? No chance.
All we can do is signal clearly and move out early, and I always make a point of giving a patient driver a thumbs up or a wave to say thanks – reminds the drivers we are actually human. If the driver is tailgating/squeezing past/using the horn, I try so hard not to react, because it has never in my experience helped. A heated argument is never a good way to start/end a day.
Having said that, I can’t resist catching the idiot up at the next queue and giving him/her a cheery wave as I sail by.
