@Trevor – agreed. I’m always puzzled by TfL’s assertion that ‘maintaining traffic flow’ and encouraging ‘vehicular stacking’ will be adversely affected by removing a lane. The reality all over London every day is that roadworks remove lanes for months at a time and, to my knowledge, traffic still flows. London hasn’t yet ground to a halt!
In short, there is plenty of space for cycle lanes. Vehicular flow is like water – remove one tributory and they will find another route.
